Okay, this is yet another weird idea I had, based on my many experiences playing video games throughout my life. I had the idea that what if the events in the video games I've played were all connected somehow, like they were this huge war that the video game characters were all participating in. It's not really well organized but I'll try to do a summary.

The Early years (the 8-Bit and 16-bit era, ranging from the 1980's to early 1990's):
Games and Movies involved: Super Mario Bros, the Donkey Kong Country series, Star Fox, Super Mario RPG, Super Metroid, the Super Mario Bros movie and the film Independence Day

Summary: The official start of what I call the 64 Wars, began about two decades ago. Events were rather quiet, but this part of the timeline should be noted for the start of the careers of the Koopa Clan, the Space Pirates and the Kremling Clan. This also saw the rise of great heroes like the Mario Brothers, Link and Samus. The only major event occurred in 1996 when the Smithy Gang attempted to take over the Mushroom Kingdom but were thwarted by the combined efforts of Mario and his friends. When monsters and alien creatures began appearing on Earth, the Men in Black (M.I.B.) and the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense organizations were formed to combat these threats. It was also during this time when Andross was banished to the planet, Venom.

64 Era (Late 1996 to Early 2001):
Games and Movie involved: Super Mario 64, Star Fox 64, Diddy Kong Racing, Mischief Makers, the Men in Black films, Yoshi's Story, Banjo-Kazooie/Banjo-Tooie, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time/The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Super Smash Brothers, Jet Force Gemini, Donkey Kong 64, Sonic Adventure: Deluxe/Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, Paper Mario

Summary: The main events of the wars began during the 64 era (hence the name 64 Wars). The first major event was when Bowser captured Princess Peach's castle and imprisoned many inhabitants in the walls and turning the castle into a nexus to many lands, this action was thwarted when Mario collected the 120 Power Stars and used them to defeat Bowser and to undo his evil magic. Things started to heat up however when in the Lylat System, when Andross took over Planet Venom, rallying his slaves and the scum of the universe (mercenaries and bounty hunters who were only in it for the money) to form his empire and to conquer the rest of the galaxy. Even Bowser and the intergalactic racing wizard Wizpig, lent Andross their support. Andross is destroyed by the Star Fox team and his armies are scattered and are defeated by other heroes, an example of this is the events on Planet Clancer.

But 1998 saw the rise of new, great evils. Ganondorf, the Gerudo King of Thieves, claimed the Triforce of Power, and became the King of Evil, and rose to power in Hyrule, while on a south seas island, Gruntilda the witch schemes. However the hero Link recovers the Triforce of Courage and, with the help of the Sages, seals Ganon away in the evil realm, while Gruntilda is defeated twice by a bear named Banjo and his breegull partner, Kazooie. Link later journeys to a new world that is facing doom from the falling moon and rescues it from the demonic Majora's Mask.

In 1999, Master Hand summoned some of the video game universe's finest heroes and gathered them for a tournament, the first Super Smash Bros tournament, to train them. Later that year the alien warlord Mizar reorganizes Andross' armies and forms a small empire of his own in his home galaxy but he and his army of insect monsters are destroyed by Jet Force Gemini. Meanwhile the Kremlings attempt to blow up DK Island but are repelled by Donkey Kong and his family. During this time the world was also threatened by the exploits of Dr. Robotnik, who attempted to control a god-like creature to further his goals and would later take control of Space Colony ARK but is thwarted by Sonic the Hedgehog. This era reached its climax when Bowser claimed the Star Rod and took over the Mushroom Kingdom, but Mario rescued the guardians of the Star Rod, the Star Spirits and took back the Star Rod from Bowser. Bowser and Ganon both survived this era of the war and would later become two of the biggest instigators and prolongers of the war.

Game Cube Era (from 2001 to 2005/2006):
Games involved: Luigi's Mansion, Pikmin/Pikmin 2, Super Smash Brothers Melee, Super Mario Sunshine, Star Fox Adventures, Metroid Prime/Metroid Prime 2: (Dark) Echoes, Star Fox Assault, Shadow the Hedgehog, Shadow of the Colossus, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures/The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker

After Bowser lost the Star Rod to Mario events started to settle down a bit. The first event of the Game Cube era was a small one, when Luigi rescued his brother Mario from a mansion inhabited by ghosts. It was also during this time a tiny astronaut named Olimar crash-landed on the Earth while on vacation and discovered the Pikmin, as well as a host of other lifeforms, in his quest to rebuild his damaged spaceship. He later returned to the planet to search for treasure to finance the bankrupt company he worked for. Master Hand, sensing greater perils waiting on the horizon, once again summoned Nintendo's greatest heroes (as well as its two greatest villains, Bowser and Ganon), to compete in the Super Smash Brothers Melee tournament.

In 2002 the pace of events started to speed up. Mario, while on vacation with his friends, helped clean up Isle Delfino. Later that year the spirit of Andross attempted to revive himself by absorbing the magical energies of the planet Sauria but was once again defeated by the Star Fox team. But it wasn't until the Space Pirate's discovery did the main events occur. The Space Pirates, still reeling from their battles with Samus on Zebes, retreated to the planet Tallon IV, where they discovered Phazon.

Phazon was an unusual ore that could be used as an energy source, but also possessed life-like qualities, such as the ability to reproduce itself, and had the power to muatate and corrupt life forms that were immune to its poison. With the discover of Phazon the universe seemed to swarm with hostile and almost demonic alien parasties: the Ing, the X Parasites, the Aparoids and the Black Arms all appeared and attempted to conquer their respective corners of the universe. Fortunately all of these were destroyed by their worlds' respective heroes: Samus, the Star Fox Team and Shadow the Hedgehog and friends, put an end to these threats.

Another Extraterrestrial society, the X-Nauts, attempted to revive an ancient demon and use its powers to take over the world, but Mario and his friends were able to defeat both the X-Nauts and the demon. The end of the Gamecube era came when Toon Link battled Ganon in his tower underneith the Great Sea. After a grueling journey, Toon Link rescued his sister Aryll, claimed the Master Sword, restored its power and used it to defeat Ganon.

"Wii 3 Play X-Box 360 Station" (XD) Era (the current era, spanning from 2006 to the present):
Games and movies involved: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Super Paper Mario, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Super Mario Galaxy/Super Mario Galaxy 2, Sonic the Hegdgehog (Next-gen), Sonic and the Secret Rings/Sonic and the Black Knight, Sonic Unleashed, Soul Calibur 4, Super Smash Brothers Brawl, Heavenly Sword, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Pokemon: Rise of Darkrai/Pokemon: Giratina and the Sky Warrior/Pokemon: Arceus and the Jewel of Life

The recent years of the war however proved to be the most violent. Ganon and Zant covered Hyrule in the veil of Twilight and Phazon was spreading on many different planets because of the Leviathans, corrupting and destroying all life. Not only that, but a new villain, Count Bleck, using the forbidden Dark Prognosticus book, summoned the Chaos Heart, which would consume all worlds in a black hole. It was also during this time that the cursed sword, Soul Edge, reached the zenith of its power and the Patriots enacted the war economy. This was all the work of an evil god-like being named Tabuu, who wished to plunge all worlds into his dark dimension and sought to collect the many treasures of the world to control them. Heroes like Mario, Link, Samus, Sonic and Solid Snake battled their respective enemies while also banding together to face Tabuu and his Subspace Army in the Super Smash Bros Brawl tournament.
